In our host’s first meeting, they talked about South Asian films, TV, and music for eight hours straight. Then, they instinctively decided to start a podcast together that would be targeted toward diasporic South Asians like them. Ananya and Aneesa’s respective careers cover the realm of the entertainment industry while also covering the dynamic of India-Pakistan.
Even though Desi Talkies is just starting out, Ananya and I have extensively developed our professional careers, resulting in a large outreach of creatives (influencers and content creators) in the South-Asian community in NYC. With only eight episodes out, we have garnered close to four-hundred listeners, with our social media presence continuing to grow. We aim to foster a community of South- Asian film fanatics by starting a conversation with our podcast and segway-ing into in-person events where we can engage with our audience.
